Adriana A. E. Biney is an Associate Professor of Demography and Population Health at the Regional Institute for Population Studies (RIPS), University of Ghana. She has an MPhil and a PhD in Population Studies from the University of Ghana, as well as a BS in Chemistry from the City College of New York (CCNY) and Macaulay Honors College at the City University of New York (CUNY). Adriana’s research focuses on women’s and adolescents’ sexual and reproductive health. Her work also explores issues related to health and wellbeing among deprived and marginalized communities in Ghana; with an emphasis on sexual and reproductive health among urban poor youth. She has received grants from a number of funders including the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the Cambridge-Africa ALBORADA project to carry out her research. She has also consulted on projects funded by the Doris Duke Foundation, USAID, IDRC and WHO, to name a few. Adriana teaches research methods related courses at the University of Ghana, and has published widely in a number of peer reviewed journals.
